Job Description
Our client is a private, interdisciplinary design studio dedicated to creating unique textile art projects that emphasise cultural sustainability through the repurposing of everyday materials and storytelling

 

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Studio Manager with a background in textiles, art, or fashion to work in a textile design studio. This is a key role that requires strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee studio functions while collaborating with the founder and external partners. You will play a key part in ensuring the efficient running of both the creative and operational aspects of the studio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the studio, including scheduling, inventory management, and team coordination.
  • Manage studio budgets, accounts, and HR-related matters.
  • Conduct research to support new projects and source specialist materials and collaborators.
  • Supervise design projects from concept through production, providing assistance as needed.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and independent designers, ensuring production quality and timelines.
  • Maintain organised digital and physical filing systems.

Contract Type: Permanent
Working Days: 4 or 5 days per week
Location: South Kensington, London
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year (for 5 days per week or pro rata based on working days)

 

 

Personal Specification
  • Minimum 2-3 years of studio manager experience working in a design studio.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, with leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A keen eye for colour, texture and surface design.
  • Proficiency in various handwork techniques such as embroidery and quilting.
  • Capacity for unconventional thinking and the cultivation of novel creative concepts.
  • Ability to conduct thorough and insightful research.
  • Proficient with Adobe Design Suit (particularly Photoshop).
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple workloads.
  • Be able to work independently as well as with a team.
