Job Description

 
The studio assistant will actively contribute to the making culture within Courses by enabling and supporting students to effectively navigate their way through creative processes & approaches to develop independent practice within residential/physical Course Studios.

They will role model behaviours that actively promote a positive experience for students and staff and support students to navigate the requirements of the Social Distancing Framework under the direction of the Programme Director

Duties:

  • To contribute as a proactive member of the Course Team as directed by the Programme Director
  • To contribute to safe working standards for both staff and students working in the Studios by contributing to a culture of awareness of modes of engagement
  • To perform such duties consistent with your role as may from time to time be assigned to you anywhere within the University
  • To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role
  • To work in accordance with the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the Staff Charter, promoting equality and diversity in your work
  • To personally contribute towards reducing the university’s impact on the environment and support actions associated with the UAL Sustainability Manifesto (2016 – 2022)
  • To make full use of all information and communication technologies in adherence to data protection policies to meet the requirements of the role and to promote organisational effectiveness

Personal Specification

These roles require the individuals to be a recent graduate of the college and in some cases specifically graduates of particular programmes. They will need to have a good understanding of the practices embodied within the courses/programmes/school in order to support students in these areas.

They will need to be confident communicators and have a good understanding of the context for practice within their subject They will need to have good organisational skills and be able to work to direction from their manager and other key staff where appropriate and have a pro-active approach and problem-solving approach to supporting others.
