Between April and July, the journalism team at LCC are virtually delivering some workshops with a collective of refugee journalists based in the Great Lakes, Africa. We are looking for a Project Assistant who can do the following duties:
· Assist with the planning and delivery of the activities and events.
· Assist with project tracking and evaluation, including keeping up to date project data.
· Provide creative input and ideas for project planning and activities, as required.
Background on the project:
Established in 2018, Journey Media (formerly known as Plume du Réfugié) is a collective of young refugees who live in exile in Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Kenya and Tanzania. Most are based in refugee camps across the region. The organisation's program team is based in Kampala. Through stories produced by their network of reporters, Journey Media aims to raise awareness on the critical issues affecting those living in refugee camps.
To be able to further professionalise and grow their activities, the group needs advice and practical guidance in a number of areas, for example, storytelling, branding, social media visibility and website production. UAL will offer a series of workshop-based activities that will not only allow UAL students to offer their support in the areas above, but that will also enable them to enrich their cultural understanding.
We are an equal opportunities employer and positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
