Job Description

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • To contribute to planning, development and delivery of learning activities such as workshops, inductions, diagnostics, technical tutorials, practice analyses and talks. supporting student learning & research, liaising with Course Leaders and academic staff informally and formally for this purpose 

  • To supervise learning activities, providing expert guidance to enable students to identify and learn appropriate inter/trans disciplinary studio practices & processes (including moving image and 3D/digital making skills) and to use associated materials, resources & equipment for experimentation & research and to meet their learning outcomes   

  • Working within Course team to create structured group timetabling where shared delivery or responsibility combine. 

      To generate and maintain appropriate learning materials and information as required, including on platforms such as Moodle, within accessibility requirements. 

  • To contribute to safe working standards for both staff and students by creating a culture of awareness of studio principles. / Working with team to develop and implement safe working procedures surrounding studio processes, maintaining relevant risk assessments for delivery of activities and processes, and maintaining COSHH assessments for studio-based materials and practices. 

  • To liaise with the Line Manager and regular suppliers & manufactures when sourcing materials and placing orders. Ensuring that accurate records of transactions and purchase of equipment and consumables budgets are up-to-date and accessible 

  • To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role

Personal Specification

 Experience, knowledge and qualifications 

  • Qualifications to BA level in Art, Design, Communication and/or Industry equivalent qualifications, experience or certification that demonstrates level of technical knowledge required for the role 

  • Knowledge of working in an FE/HE Environment  

  • Demonstrable technical knowledge of a wide range of Media & Screen, 2D/3D/Digital making, fabrication and trans-disciplinary processes and techniques.  

  • Knowledge of a range of software and emerging technologies (for Illustration, Animation, Film and Photography) (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, VR and applied 3D Modelling software e.g., Blender). 

  • Desirable: experience with Reprograhic processes, 3D Printing and photogrammetry/3D scanning.  

  • Experience in a range of interdisciplinarity installation knowledges including physical and digital methods
