Job Description

Postgraduate Student Ambassador –  The Student Room 
Start: 12 May 2025 
End: 18 July 
STP Rate 2 

Location: Fully remote 
Hours: 1 hour per week (10-week contract with possibility to extend) 
Ideal Candidate: Postgraduate student (or alumni) looking to earn whilst they study and represent the University on The Student Room platform 

As a Postgraduate Student Ambassador, you will play a key role in supporting prospective postgraduate students by answering questions about University of the Arts London (UAL) on The Student Room forum platform 

You will engage with future students by providing helpful, honest, and detailed information about UAL in your responses. You'll share insights into UAL’s postgraduate courses, research opportunities, campus life, life in London and the support and resources available to students. You will also keep track of popular conversation topics on the University’s profile and other subject-relevant forums (e.g. Arts, Media, Film, Journalism, Architecture etc.).  

This role requires strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to help others make informed decisions about their postgraduate academic journey at UAL.  

Ambassadors will receive support, information and resources throughout the placement so that they are fully equipped and able to respond to various queries.

Personal Specification

Person Specification – Postgraduate Student Ambassador 

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong Written Communication Skills: Clear, friendly and professional in written communication
  •  Enthusiastic and Approachable: A passion for UAL and a genuine interest in helping prospective postgraduate students
  •  Reliable and Responsible: Able to manage time effectively and respond promptly to queries
  •  Knowledgeable: A strong ability to compile an understanding of UAL postgraduate programs, research opportunities, campus life and student support resources
  •  Adaptable: Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people and adjusting to various questions and situations. Able to offer nuanced responses, specific to postgraduate concerns, by referring to testimonials and data.  

Desirable Skills:

  • Prior experience in similar roles (moderating online forums or communities) is an asset
  •  Familiarity with The Student Room platform.
  •  Ability to provide practical solutions and insights based on personal UAL experience (does not need to connect specifically to postgraduate life; can be about other aspects of UAL, e.g. Arts SU, Canteens and Cafes etc.)
