Trans and Non-binary Inclusion Policy Review - Closed Consultation Participant

UAL is committed to ensuring an inclusive learning environment where trans and non-binary students can feel safe and supported and we continue to protect the rights of all students. As part of these efforts, we are conducting a consultation on the university’s Trans and Non-Binary Inclusion Policy and accompanying student guidance review to ensure student voice is heard in this review process.  

We want to hear from you! We are inviting trans and non-binary students to a closed consultation session. This is an opportunity to share your valuable feedback and thoughts on the policy and guidance itself and more generally on your experience at UAL. This session will help us to continue our work in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.  

The session will be facilitated by Isabella Chan (Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion), Calum Sherwood (Senior Policy and Research Officer) and Sharna Piercy (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Students Manager). 

Participants will be sent a pre-survey to complete and a consultation pack ahead of the session consisting of:  

• • The former Trans and Non-binary Inclusion Policy 
  • The revised draft Trans and Non-binary Inclusion Policy 
  •  The draft Trans and Non-binary Inclusion Policy Guidance for Students  
  • A briefing document to provide context and an overview of the proposed changes to the policy 

The materials are confidential and are not to be shared with anyone. You are invited to read and reflect on the documents, ready to bring thoughts to the consultation session which will take place on Wednesday 1st October 2025 12-1:30pm, Microsoft Teams. 

*The participant list for these sessions will be kept confidential, and all feedback will be anonymised. There will be a notetaker for the session, but they will not be recorded.
