Job Description

Main Purpose of the Role:

To support the capture of content and delivery of UAL’s social media presence with a primary focus on enhancing our connection with students and the wider university community through our busiest time of year namely summer shows and graduation. 

This role will play a key part in monitoring and managing social media channels, responding to enquiries, creating engaging content, and supporting the communications team in delivering impactful campaigns and communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Engagement

Monitor UAL and college social media accounts, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to enquiries, comments, and direct messages.

Support the delivery of UAL's summer shows and graduation social media plan by assisting in the planning, creation, and scheduling of content across platforms (e.g. Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook).

Work closely with the wider communications team to support campaigns aimed at raising awareness of university initiatives, events, and updates.

Track key themes, issues or emerging trends from social media interactions and flag serious or reputational concerns to relevant managers.

Use monitoring tools (e.g. Hootsuite) to track performance, compile analytics and generate regular reports on engagement and audience behaviour.

Student Enquiries and Support

Respond to or triage student enquiries received via social media, email, or other digital channels in a professional and timely manner.

Maintain a databank of frequently asked questions and develop standard responses to help streamline future engagement.

Analyse trends in student queries to help improve future communications and content strategy.

Personal Specification

  • Strong knowledge of UAL and its colleges and enthusiasm for our purpose, mission and values.
  • Experience using social media in the HE sector to communicate effectively to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Comfortable responding to enquiries in a professional and engaging tone, particularly through social media or email.
  • Skilled at social media content filming and editing and a knowledge of how to optimise content for different platforms.
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling and monitoring tools (e.g.Hootsuite).
  • Skilled in writing clearly and accessibly, with an understanding of tone, audience, and inclusivity.
  • Creative and visually aware, with an eye for what makes content engaging, accessible and on-brand.
  • Confident contributing ideas and suggesting improvements to how we work and communicate.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.
