Purpose of Role
UAL Halls Life is an award-winning team that sits within UAL halls of residence and the central Student Services team. We deliver exceptional student experience across our 14 halls of residence, creating a home away from home for those living with us. We have student committees that are formed across halls that support us with the delivery of events and campaigns weekly, these committee roles consist of content creators and event leads. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated individuals who can deliver a welcoming environment for a diverse group of students starting this September.
The Event Lead role will work collaboratively with a Content Creator to make up a committee in the hall in which they live. You must be living in one of the following halls for 2026/2027 to apply for this role: Archwood House, The Costume Store, Emily Bowes Court, Gardens House, Glassyard Building, Highline Building, Portland House, Hawthorne House, Sketch House.
(This information is accurate as of May but changeable based on the requests of our partner buildings and it may be that we expand our reach to other buildings that house UAL students in the future.)
You must be available for mandatory online training from the 17th - 31st August. 17th – 21st for online training with the Halls Life team, and 22nd – 31st for independent training. There will also be mandatory in person training between 1st – 4th September. You must be living in halls and ready to start your first shift on Saturday the 5th September. (You will receive a week of free accommodation for this in person training). If you are offered this role after interview and accept the position, you are automatically guaranteed a place in UAL halls of residence 2026/2027. Although we will try to guarantee you your 1st choice of hall this might not always be possible.
The Events Lead will be responsible for creating and delivering weekly events for the students living in their halls. They will have support from Content Creators and the wider team but will be primarily responsible for the event planning and management of events internally.
You will be the initial communicator between your committee and the Halls Life team: Sending and responding to emails promptly and arranging meetings, regarding all matters around events. Throughout your time as Event Lead, you will gain a strong understanding of your halls, through collecting event data feedback and taking note of how events are received. As you gain such knowledge, you will have acquired yourself confidence and understanding to plan and manage your events as a committee, with the Student Experience team here to support you.
This role will need to benchmark against industry standard initiatives and create and innovate these for the students at UAL. Working closely with the Halls Life Team, Diversity Officers, Residential Managers, the Intervention and Welfare Conduct Manager alongside other key personnel within accommodation.
