Custom Backdrop Artist

We are looking for a student or recent graduate (w/in 2 years) to create a bespoke background for a studio photoshoot. We are open to a variety of materials- you might be a painter, illustrator, textile designer or production designer, the main thing is we want it to be interesting and colourful!

The background will be used in the background in shoots photographing other student work which might include fashion, art, performance and 3D design. These final images of the work might be used in marketing materials, social media and third party websites. You’ll be credited for your work where it is possible to do so.

You’ll need to be available on 2nd July in London to transport the background to a studio in Shoreditch. You’ll be paid an hourly rate on ArtsTemps for being briefed on the project, working on the piece and transporting the final piece, up to 15 hours total. We will also cover expenses including agreed upon material costs and expenses to transport the final piece.

You'll be a current student or recent graduate working in any visual medium- Fine Art, Illustration, Textile Design, Production Design, Technical arts, etc.

You’re able to create a piece with material costs in budget, as well as communicate your creative ideas clearly either verbally or written.

In your cover letter, please specify any ideas you have for the creative direction of the piece. The expected material costs of the piece will be a factor, so keep that in mind when explaining your ideas. Your exact ideas might change, but they’ll give us an idea of who is the right fit for the role.
