Job Description

Overview:

The UAL Doctoral School at High Holborn is seeking Curatorial Assistants to support the handling, installation, and delivery of our upcoming Summer Exhibition. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in curatorial practice, exhibition management, and public engagement within a supportive and collaborative environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the installation and de-installation of artworks, liaising with researcher-artists/designers, technicians, and curators as needed.

 

Person Specification

Essential:

• Interest in contemporary art, design and curatorial practice

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively

• Reliability and a positive attitude

• Ability to handle works of art/design carefully

• Have experience installing exhibitions

• Be handy, flexible and creative

• Familiarity with basic gallery health & safety protocols

 

Desirable:

• Technical experience installing exhibitions

 

Learning Outcomes:

• Practical experience in curatorial processes

• Enhanced understanding of artist liaison and installation logistics

• Opportunity to develop skills in arts administration, communication, and teamwork.

 

Dates you need to be available (onsite, 272 High Holborn):

Wednesday 18 June, 12:00-18:00 (1 person to take works in from exhibitors)

Thursday 19 June, 10:00-17:00 (2 people, exhibition installation)

Friday 20 June, 10:00-17:00 (2 people, exhibition installation)

Friday 27 June, 17:30-20:00 (2 people, exhibition de-installation)

Monday 30 June, 10:00-13:00 (1 person to give works back to exhibitors)

 
Interview:
Thurs 5 June bet 10-12 and Fri 6 June bet 10-12
