Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional expertise, guidance, and advice to students and staff working in styling and production-based practices.

  • Contribute to the delivery of academic activities within the College.

  • Support student learning through both informal and formal training and instruction.

  • Facilitate the development of proficiency in highly specialist techniques, production methods, and technologies, including:

    • Still life styling

    • Editorial and commercial styling

    • Window display

    • Art direction for fashion photoshoots

  • Offer critical input on student concepts and expressive/creative intentions, including constructive feedback.

  • Contribute to formative assessments, ensuring alignment with appropriate learning outcomes of the course or project.

Personal Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Fashion.

  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas:

    • Customisation

    • Sourcing clothes and props for fashion shoots

    • Sourcing models and working with model agencies

    • Planning, organising, and running fashion photoshoots

    • Fashion trends

    • Commercial styling (e.g., lookbooks, advertising)

    • Concept development (e.g., fashion editorials)

    • Window display

    • Styling for brands

    • Art direction for fashion photoshoots

  • Strong knowledge of current fashion trends, colour schemes, styling, and design principles.

  • Proficiency in using styling tools, equipment, and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

  • Familiarity with production processes.

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation and its operational implementation.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with a diverse team.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute as a team player.

  • Ability to carry out routines requiring mastery of a range of skills or physical techniques, with a high level of concentration.

Desirable

  • Industry experience in still life, editorial, and commercial styling.

  • Experience in planning and organising fashion photoshoots, including:

    • Commercial styling (lookbooks, advertising)

    • Concept development (fashion editorials)

    • Window display

    • Styling for brands

    • Art direction for fashion photoshoots

  • Teaching experience.
