Job Description

Purpose of the Role

CSM Changemakers work in partnership with educational developers, and programme and course teams, to:

  • co-design teaching and learning

  • develop creative projects

  • critically explore themes like social justice, decolonising, climate justice, identity and student experience

Please note: We will provide training in these areas, but please indicate your interests in your cover letter.

We are recruiting up to six Changemakers for this year’s programme, which will run between November 2025 and July 2026.

Students and alumni at undergraduate and postgraduate level with an interest in social justice and identity are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates who wish to explore creative ways to respond to global crises.

There may be an opportunity to work on an anthology, and candidates with visual and textual creating and editorial skills, and/or an interest in communicating with diverse students, are welcome.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in training and ongoing development, and build the knowledge and confidence required for the role.
    Please note that there will be one monthly in-person meet on-site, and regular check-ins with your line manager and other partners online.

  • Work with educational developers, as well as course teams, to co-design creative teaching and learning projects

  • Work with courses to review and co-design teaching and learning

  • Liaise with student reps, the Student Union, and with students

  • Contribute to decolonial thinking, and social and climate justice initiative


Personal Specification

Knowledge 

Essential:

 Understanding of student and academic life at CSM 

Desirable:

Demonstrable commitment to issues of social justice and climate justice, 

including anti-racism, identity and decolonial thinking

 

Experience 

Essential:

Experience of completing the first stage of an undergraduate or postgraduate 

course at CSM

Desirable:

Lived experience of and/or demonstrable interest in issues around identity 

and/or social and climate justice work

 

Communication Skills 

Essential:

Experience of communicating effectively online using UAL platforms and in 

on-site meetings 

Desirable:

 Experience of communicating with diverse audiences 

 

Teamwork 

Essential:

Interest in working collaboratively in a team

Desirable:

Interest and experience in working with staff and students

 

Creativity and Problem Solving

Essential:

Interest in creative solutions to global concerns

Essential:

Experience of time management and the ability to work under multiple 

deadlines

Desirable:

Creative skills including creation of text and visual images
