Job Description


  • Who do Changemakers report to?

    • The CCW Student Partnership Manager (SPM)

    • Who works within the CCW Student Journey team.

  • What is the main purpose of Changemakers?

    • The CCW Changemakers are student partners who collaborate with staff from various programmes, libraries, and career services to enhance the curriculum content.

    • As a changemaker, you will learn and integrate the UAL principles of climate, racial, and social justice.

    • You may work with stakeholders on initiatives that promote belonging, community, and employability to enrich the student experience.

  • How/when do Changemakers work?

    • Changemakers work online and in-person.

    • Weekly team/one-on-one check-ins with SPM.

    • Various in-person/online meetings with teams across CCW. This may include Programme Directors. The times and locations will vary and may at times require travel to other campuses.

    • Attendance at the regular team meetings is required, and absences may mean the post is reviewed.

    • Some of the work will be at specific times (e.g. team meetings, training sessions), and other work can be completed at independently negotiated times (e.g. reading and replying to messages, developing materials, commenting on course handbooks and potential focus groups).

  • What are the duties and responsibilities of Changemakers?

    • To participate in initial training and ongoing development, with supervision and peer support, to build the knowledge and confidence required for the role.

    • To work with the Student Partnership Manager in addition to Deans, Associate Deans and Programme Directors to identify areas for Changemakers’ work.

    • To work directly with identified course teams to review and co-develop curricula and teaching practices, from student induction up until final assessment.

    • To participate in key quality and enhancement processes, like reapproval and AEM, and contribute to evaluation and reporting for college committees.

    • To liaise with student reps, the Student Union, and directly with students as needed, for Changemakers work to be informed by students.

    • To contribute to college and university wide anti-racism and decolonisation initiatives.


Personal Specification

  • By what criteria are Changemakers selected?

    • Essential

      • Knowledge

        • Knowledge of anti-racism or equity and inclusion practices within an arts-based curriculum.

      • Experience

        • Experience of completing the first stage of an undergraduate or postgraduate course at CCW.

      • Communication Skills

        • Communicates effectively, adapting messages for diverse audiences in an inclusive and accessible way.

        • Confidence in communicating across different stakeholders to advocate for change.

      • Teamwork

        • Works collaboratively across academic and professional groups.

      • Creativity and Problem Solving

        • Suggests practical solutions to new or unique problems.

        • Supports less confident people to participate in problem-solving.

    • Desirable

      • Knowledge

        • Knowledge of decolonisation within art-based curriculum.

      • Experience

        • Experience of evaluating a project linked to social justice or liberation themes.

      • Teamwork

        • Experience of working with different stakeholders on decolonisation or social justice.
