Job Description

Student Marketing Recruitment and Admissions are casting students to take part in a new international film project titled Home Away From Home.

We’re looking for students who are comfortable being filmed and are interested in sharing their experiences of identity, culture, and belonging.

Who we’d love to hear from:

  • International students, especially those whose culture strongly influences their creative work or how they stay connected to home while living in another country

  • UK-based students who have made the big move to London and want to share how their background and culture have shaped who they are

You don’t need acting experience, but you should feel confident speaking on camera and expressing yourself authentically.

What’s involved:

  • Selected students will be invited to record a short casting reel on 20 January 2026.  Students will have the option to choose from two slots: 11:30 to 1:30 or 2pm-4pm. This will take place at the High Holborn site.

  • Final decisions will be made after viewing the casting reels

  • Filming will focus on personal stories, reflections, and cultural influences

This is a great opportunity to be part of an international creative project and have your story represented on screen.

Interested?
Apply by Thursday and in your cover letter tell us a little about yourself and answer the following question: Think of an object that reminds you of your home or your culture? Tell us what it is and why it's important to you?

Personal Specification

Ideal candidates should possess the following qualities:
  • Currently enrolled as a student

  • Comfortable being filmed and speaking on camera

  • Willing to share personal experiences around culture, identity, or belonging

  • Able to communicate clearly and authentically

  • Available to attend a short casting reel recording session

Desirable

  • International student, or a student living away from their home country

  • UK-based student who has relocated to London and is open to reflecting on that experience

  • Creative background or interest (e.g. art, design, fashion, film, performance, writing)

  • Experience appearing on camera (informal or professional), though this is not required

Personal Attributes

  • Open, reflective, and comfortable talking about personal experiences

  • Curious and engaged with cultural identity and creative expression

  • Reliable and able to follow basic direction during filming

  • Respectful of others’ stories and perspectives

We are an equal opportunities employer and positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
