We are recruiting a Library Shelver for the 2026/7 academic year autum term at Central Saint Martins. Shelvers are incredibly important for ensuring the smooth running of CSM library especially during busy periods.
As a shelver you will:
- Shelve, sort and tidy stock according to the Library's classification sequence, for books this is the Dewey Decimal System
- Clear library stock from desks and ensure study spaces are tidy
- Respace material and rearrange shelves locally as necessary
- Undertake regular systematic shelf tidying
- Assist library users with directional enquiries and directing to additional support where required
- Perform checks and retrieve material from the shelves for the Library team
- Empty returns bins
- Move book trolleys and use kick-stools to access shelves
- Assist with stock moves/reorganisation, and shelf checking stock lists, as required.
- Process and repair materials as directed
- Undertake other tasks as directed by supervisors and managers.
This vacancy is for one three-hour shift Monday to Friday, 1pm to 4pm (15 hours per week). Please only apply for this post if you can commit to working this time slot for the duration of the vacancy period. This post will start on Monday 28th September 2026 and last until Friday 11th December 2026.
