Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a UAL graduate with a background in Immersive Technology to do a 6-month full-time paid internship with Fashion Innovation Agency.  

Fashion Innovation Agency (FIA) is a world-renowned team that works at the bleeding edge of emerging technology and is a guiding light for the industry. FIA is housed within Graduate Futures, Business and Innovation at London College of Fashion (LCF). FIA’s work sparks the imagination of creatives, executives, and entrepreneurs, building a pathway for new experiences, business models and job roles that are yet to exist. FIA consults for major luxury brands such as Burberry, Chanel, and Hugo Boss, as well as collaborating with technology companies such as Microsoft, Epic and Nvidia. FIA provides a key portal for knowledge exchange between industry and LCF.  

We are seeking a talented and motivated Immersive Technology Intern with a strong passion for the intersection of 3D technology and fashion. The ideal candidate will work on cutting-edge projects that integrate game engine development, photogrammetry, 3D animation, motion capture, and digital fashion design. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of immersive, interactive, and visually compelling experiences for the fashion industry using open-source and industry-standard tools. The chosen intern will gain practical hands-on experience and hone their technical skills under the supervision of an experienced team, and to see how these skills can be applied within ‘live’ industry projects. Through the internship the individual will build their knowledge, learn different approaches to collaborative business practice, innovation and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve strategic goals.   

 

Responsibilities: 

    • develop 3D interactive experiences using Unreal Engine or Unity
    • create 3D fashion-related content under supervision of Lead Creative Technologist 
    •  explore cloth simulation packages within game engines
    •  experiment and develop Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality applications for fashion 
    •  utilise photogrammetry techniques to create high-fidelity 3D models of physical objects
    •  animate 3D characters and assets using motion capture tools and techniques
    •  experiment with volumetric capture and creation of 3D content for screen-based experiences and/or virtual production e.g. LED walls 
    •  assist in the development and testing of immersive tech experiences 
    •  create realistic garments in CLO3D or similar digital fashion platforms
    •  design, texture, and render visually stunning outputs for use in fashion presentations, marketing campaigns, and virtual runways.
    •  assist in developing workflows for integrating assets into game engines or other platforms
    •  research and experiment with new tools and methodologies for enhancing immersive technologies in the fashion domain
    •  gain experience of a creative agency environment  
    •  collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team 
    •  attend client meetings 
    •  work on industry projects  
    •  develop content for FIA’s website and social media channels 
    •  support with the development of workshops/short courses for LCF students 
    •  broaden professional network within field of Immersive Technology   
    • attend industry events 
 

The working pattern would be full-time 5 days a week (9:30am-5:30pm) in-person in the FIA office, at London College of Fashion in Stratford, sometimes working from home online. 

 

Personal Specification

This internship is suitable for someone with a background in Immersive Technology. Ideally, they would have experience of using software packages including Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, C# and Lens Studio, plus any digital design skills using CLO3D or Marvelous Designer would be a bonus. They would be a graduate from UAL looking at building upon their existing experience. The chosen intern should have a keen eye for design, preferably a passion for fashion, as well as a demonstrable interest in UX design for game engine powered experiences. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Some experience with Unreal Engine or Unity for developing 3D interactive experiences 

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max. 

  • Familiarity with photogrammetry tools like Meshroom, RealityCapture, or Agisoft Metashape 

  • Interest in motion capture systems and tools, such as Rokoko Studio, Vicon, or Xsens

  • Understanding of 3D animation techniques, including rigging, keyframing, and physics simulations

  

  

Highly Desired Qualifications:  

  • Experience in CLO3D or equivalent digital fashion design tools (highly desirable)

  • Basic programming or scripting skills in Python or C# for automation and customization

  

 

 

Soft Skills:  

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset  

  • Excellent communication skills, especially when discussing technical concepts with non-technical clients/audience  

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team  

  • Passion for 3D technology and its application in creative industries, particularly fashion
