Job Description

The BA (Hons) User Experience Design is seeking enthusiastic creatives to join a hands-on studio session alongside two experienced course tutors to support Year 3 students as they explore user scenarios and relationships through emergent and lateral thinking mapping activities.

Session Date: Thursday, 27th November 2025
Meet tutors in person: 9:30 AM in T404 (4th Floor, LCC Tower Block)
Student Session: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM T405

Set in Week 9 of a 13-week unit, students will be building on prior research to define user ecosystems and develop personas that bring their users and relationships to life. Working in small groups, each team will be paired with a mentor to guide their thinking and creative process. The session will be coordinated by the Year 3 Lead, who will support mentors and ensure consistency across groups.

Successful candidates will:

  • Be passionate about design and creative collaboration.
  • Be available to attend the in-person session and actively engage with students in a mentoring capacity.

This is an opportunity to collaborate with an academic team and gain insight into student-led projects.

Personal Specification

The successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

Essential

Experience in Student Support: Demonstrated experience working with students in an educational or mentoring capacity, with the ability to offer structured guidance and support within a limited timeframe to help students achieve learning outcomes.

Motivational Leadership: Ability to actively guide, motivate, and inspire others in a collaborative learning environment.

UX/Interaction/Service Design Knowledge: Practical understanding of user experience, and/or interaction design, and/or service design principles and processes.

Persona Development Expertise: Working knowledge of how to create and apply personas effectively in design contexts.

Empathetic Approach: A supportive and inclusive attitude towards working with diverse student groups, with the ability to remain positive and encouraging throughout the session.

Desirable

User Ecosystem Thinking: Familiarity with user ecosystem frameworks (e.g. rethinkingusers.com), however a resource will also be provided to support this ahead of the session.

We are an equal opportunities employer and positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
