Research Assistant for the Decolonising Arts Institute

Job Description

UAL is looking for a research assistant to develop research-informed content for an educational resource which will feature on project websites hosted on university web pages.
The ideal candidate will have experience of doing independent research and producing academic content which is both academically informed but also accessible to a broader audience.

Responsibilities include:

• To develop research content for a number of themes in the form of archival evidence, colonial history, indigenous and decolonial approaches, and counter-hegemonic understandings
• These themes are tentatively:

- the partitions of Palestine and India
-apartheid and segregation
-slavery
-settler colonialism and the new world
-the scramble for Africa

Personal Specification

Ideal candidates should possess the following qualities:

· A background in politics and/or other social sciences or history is essential.
Strong communication skills for explaining socio-political concepts.
· An understanding of decolonial approaches
