Job Description

Job Title: Moodle Support Assistant (Temporary)
Department: LCC Digital Learning Team
Location: London College of Communication / Hybrid
Duration: 4 weeks
Hours: 76 hours total (flexible, by agreement)

Role Overview

Would you like to contribute to improving the student learning experience? UAL is looking for a reliable and well‑organised applicants to support the LCC Digital Learning team during the summer Moodle rollover period. This temporary role will involve you helping prepare Moodle unit sites for the next academic year, following clear guidance and working as part of a supportive team.

This role is ideal if you are confident using Moodle, enjoys working accurately with digital content and has UX or web design experience.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Digital Learning team, you will assistant with:

  • Support the summer Moodle rollover by helping copy and reset unit sites
  • Assist with restructuring of Moodle unit sites using provided templates and instructions
  • Carry out basic checks to ensure Moodle sites are clearly structured and ready for teaching
  • Help respond to straightforward staff queries by email or Teams, passing more complex issues to the team
  • Keep simple records of work completed using shared documents or trackers

All work will be completed in line with UAL policies on data protection, equality and diversity, accessibility, and information security.

4 hours training will be given at the start of contracts. Then 18 hours over two weeks. 

Personal Specification

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Confidence using Moodle as a learner
  • Basic IT and Microsoft 365 skills
  • Familiar with using Teams 
  • Good attention to detail and skill to follow step‑by‑step instructions
  • Prepared to carry out repetitive work and able to stick to a single task without being distracted 
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage time well
  • Access to good wi-fi connection & available to work remotely and attend online meetings between 9 and 5pm 

Desirable:

  • Interest in digital learning, learning technology, or academic support work
  • Awareness of accessibility or inclusive learning practices
  •  Prepared to travel to a UAL site and work from there if better wi-fi connection required to complete tasks. 
  • If using a laptop, access to an external computer monitor would help working across multiple windows.
